This is water proof type sensor as shown below. The Water tank is 5 Ft in height and water is filled in it upto 4 Ft. The sensor will be fitted at the top inside the tank.

Hey guys, this is kayode and together over the next couple of weeks we will be unboxing some really cool projects ranging from home automation systems to home security systems. At the end of each project am very sure that putting together your own project will not be a problem.

In an attempt to mitigate problems such as poor water allocation, inefficient use, and lack of adequate and integrated water management, Automatic Water level controller system is designed to monitor liquid level in an overhead tank or any liquid storage system with an automatic pumping system attached to it to refill the tank once the liquid gets to the lower threshold, while switching OFF the pump once the liquid gets to the higher threshold. Generally, this device controls, monitors and maintains the water level in the overhead tank and ensures continuous flow of water round the clock eliminating the stress of operating the pump manually thereby saving time, energy , water etc. This unit comprises of the transformer , bridge rectifier, filtering capacitor and a voltage regulator.

The objective of this project is to notify the user the amount of water that is present in the overhead water tank.

Thus, the Arduino water level indicator helps in preventing wastage of water in overhead tank. This project is wireless so, it is easy to install and it can work up to meters. In this project two circuits are used: a transmitter circuit and a receiver circuit. The transmitter circuit makes use of an ultrasonic sensor to measure the water level in terms of distance. This data is sent to the receiver circuit using RF communication. In the project two circuits are used, First is the transmitter and second is the receiver.

An Ultrasonic sensor is used in the transmitter circuit, which measures the distance of water level from the upper point of the bottle or Tank. The distance is measured in centimeters and sent to receiver circuit using RF communication. Receiver circuit receives the data from transmitter circuit and converts it in terms of the percentage and shows on LCD. Ultrasonic sensor has two openings, one is Trigger and the other is Echo. Trigger makes high frequency sound waves.

These sound waves are passed through the tank from top to bottom. The sound waves hit the water and are reflected back in the form of Echo waves. The Echo opening receives the Echo waves. The water level sensor Arduino measures the time between Echo and Trigger. This traveled distance is directly proportional to the time.

One of the projects that have been done by so many students is the automated flow switch system that comes under various names like Water level Indicator using Arduino and Ultrasonic sensor, Water level monitor and control, automatic flow switch, water level sensor, water level controller. These devices can be built in different ways using different electronic components and sensors. The commonest sensor to use for this type of project is a metallic contact sensor.
