Impact of ICT on the Teaching and Learning Process

This study aimed to investigate the impact of ICT on teaching and learning from the point-of-view of Palestinian students and teachers. A total of school teachers and students from 53 schools taking part in an ICT project in Palestine responded to a questionnaire survey. Results indicated that students in Palestinian public schools perceived ICT to have a moderate influence on their learning. Students indicated that they face frequent challenges such as: lesson duration, access to modern devices and issues with information research skills. Rapid developments in information and communication technology ICT mean that the last decade has witnessed increasing integration of various forms of technology in schools. This scientific and technical progress has arguably dominated all aspects of life, including methods of teaching.

Schools use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information. When teachers are digitally literate and trained to use ICT, these approaches can lead to higher order thinking skills, provide creative and individualized options for students to express their understandings, and leave students better prepared to deal with ongoing technological change in society and the workplace. ICT issues planners must consider include: considering the total cost-benefit equation, supplying and maintaining the requisite infrastructure, and ensuring investments are matched with teacher support and other policies aimed at effective ICT use. Digital culture and digital literacy: Computer technologies and other aspects of digital culture have changed the ways people live, work, play, and learn, impacting the construction and distribution of knowledge and power around the world. Digital literacy—the skills of searching for, discerning, and producing information, as well as the critical use of new media for full participation in society—has thus become an important consideration for curriculum frameworks.

By using a quantitative research approach and a sample size of students, data were collected about the ICT adoption in universities and the relative performance of students belonging to four Saudi universities. Structure equation modelling was chosen to determine the validity of the research model. The Analysis of Moment Structures AMOS , specially used for structural equation modelling and path analysis, was used as the research tool.
